I’m a Wandering Creative and adaptable designer
I started out my career in video editing, moving into visual effects and motion graphics. I wanted to create work that’s fun to watch and, if I’m being honest, features lots of explosions and lasers.
During my time in the creative industry, I was able to share what I’ve learned with students at three colleges in Michigan. Helping young creatives learn the craft and be prepared for the all curveballs they’ll face (okay, most of the curveballs) was incredibly rewarding.
I made the move into the corporate world to create media for an in-house learning team. I was able to use my background in higher ed and design to help my teams craft learning experiences, not just modules.
When I was introduced to design thinking, I was intrigued. I mean, I’m a trained designer, and I think, so let’s see how this goes! The mindset and methods of design thinking have been a must-have in my work since then, helping me move into culture work, business transformation, and change management for in-house consulting teams.
Rounding out my skills and experience, I’m a husband, dad, martial artist, gamer, and small business owner. Whether it’s applying martial arts philosophy to culture work scenarios, or adding a healthy dose of designer adaptability to coaching my daughter’s soccer team, my personal and work lives make each other stronger.
